Using Your Solvent-Free Terpenes (Oil-Soluble)

What They Are:
Pure, plant-derived aromatic compounds that provide the natural scent, flavor, and effect profiles found in functional botanicals.

Applications:
✔ Oil-based formulations
✔ Distillates
✔ Concentrates
✔ Tinctures
✔ Vapor Products
✔ Infused Flower (All-In-Ones, Pods, Infused Cones)

Average Add-Back Range:
3%-5% (By weight) - Always start low and work your way up. Do not exceed 10%

How to Use:

  1. Ensure all equipment is clean, functional, and properly configured prior to use.
  2. Prepare Material: Warm oil or extract as usual.
  3. Calculate Add-Back Rate: Example: 50 g batch × 3% = 1.5 g terpenes.
  4. Weigh Precisely: Use a scale accurate to 0.00 decimal places.
  5. Cool to Mix: Ensure your material is ≤100°F before adding terpenes.
  6. Add & Blend: Mix for up to 20 minutes with a magnetic stir bar or hand tool.
  7. Rest & Evaluate: Let steep for 24 hours before tasting or production.
  8. Document: Record the final formula for consistency in future batches.

Storage Tips:
Keep finished products between 60°F–75°F to prevent separation or oxidation.

Using FlowState™ Premium Liquidizer

What It Is:

FlowState™ Premium Liquidizer is a natural, flavorless viscosity modifier and stabilizer designed to maintain botanical extracts in a flowable, stable state. It supports consistency across high-viscosity botanical extracts by helping reduce crystallization, minimizing phase separation, and improving flow performance in hardware-dependent applications.

Unlike simple diluents that reduce potency alone, FlowState™ works to standardize viscosity while preserving flavor integrity and formulation performance.

Applications:
✔ Vapor Cartridges
✔ All-in-One Devices
✔ Pods
✔ Tinctures
✔ Concentrates
✔ Distillate-Based Formulations

Why Use a Liquidizer Instead of a Diluent?

A Liquidizer is designed to help maintain thick or crystallization-prone botanical extracts in a stable, flowable state once in solution. It supports viscosity control and reduces the likelihood of separation or solidification during storage and hardware use.

A Diluent, by contrast, is primarily used to reduce overall concentration within a formulation. Its main function is to adjust strength or ratio; not to stabilize viscosity or prevent crystallization.

FlowState™ is engineered for viscosity standardization and formulation stability. While it can influence overall concentration when incorporated into a system, its primary role is to support flow performance and long-term consistency in extract-based applications.

When to Use

FlowState™ is recommended in extract-based formulations when:

  • The base material exhibits excessive viscosity that limits reliable device performance
  • Solidification or crystallization is observed during storage or filling
  • Phase separation occurs under normal handling conditions
  • Flavor systems are already optimized and further terpene addition would compromise profile integrity

Important:
Terpenes naturally contribute to viscosity reduction. However, terpene content should be optimized for sensory performance first. We do not recommend increasing terpene levels beyond suggested use range solely to improve flow characteristics, as excessive terpene content may negatively impact overall formulation balance.

Suggested Usage Range

Always begin with pilot-scale validation.

Typical starting range:
2%–10% by weight, depending on material viscosity and target consistency.

Start at the lowest practical percentage and increase incrementally based on:

  • Flow testing
  • Stability observation
  • Device compatibility evaluation

Final inclusion rates should be validated through internal QA protocols.

Incorporation Procedure

  1. Verify all equipment is clean, calibrated, and suitable for heated mixing.
  2. Bring extract base to a uniform, workable consistency.
  3. Calculate inclusion rate by weight.
  4. Add FlowState™ gradually while mixing.
  5. Blend thoroughly for 15–20 minutes to ensure homogeneity.
  6. Allow the batch to rest for 24 hours under controlled conditions.
  7. Evaluate for:
    1. Uniform viscosity
    2. Absence of visible separation
    3. Stability under anticipated storage conditions
    4. Consistent performance in device-dependent applications
  8. Document final inclusion rate and processing conditions for repeatability.

Storage & Handling

  • Store unopened between 68°F–77°F (20°C–25°C).
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Keep tightly sealed in a cool, dry, dark environment.
  • Mix or gently agitate prior to use.

For complete safety information, consult the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
