Bomb Pop Terpene Profile: Cliff Notes

Welcome to the Talking Terpenes: Cliff Notes educational series. These bite-sized articles unpack the fascinating world of terpenes—nature’s aroma molecules—through a flavor-first lens. Each edition highlights how individual terpene blends can impact both our senses and our wellness.

Terpenes are naturally occurring compounds found in plants that contribute to their distinctive scents, flavors, and potential benefits. When consumed, they may interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which helps regulate everything from mood and stress to sleep and inflammation.

MEET BOMP POP

Flavor & Aroma: Fruity and sweet with bright cherry, lemon, and blue raspberry notes.
Formulation Type: Solvent-Free | Oil-Soluble | THC- & CBD-Free
Ideal Use: Formulations seeking nostalgic, candy-like fruit flavor with functional support for vapes and pre-rolls.

Bomb Pop was created to capture the joy of the classic frozen treat (think cherry slush, citrus zest, and a blue raspberry burst). Developed using isolated plant-derived terpenes and natural aromatic materials, this flavor-forward profile offers both vibrant taste and sensory support.

UNDERSTANDING BOMB POP TERPENES

Below is a breakdown of the key terpene components that bring Bomb Pop’s experience to life. While this is only a partial list, these foundational elements define much of its flavor, aroma, and potential effects.

D-Limonene

Bright • Citrusy • Mood Lifting

Also known as orange peel oil or citrene, d-limonene is the terpene behind many lemon-scented household and beauty products. Found in citrus fruit rinds, it’s widely used in food flavoring - from candies to sparkling drinks.

Potential Benefits:

  • Mood elevation
  • Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects
  • Widely used in cosmetics and wellness formulations

Lemon Oil

Zesty • Tangy • Bright

Cold-pressed from lemon peels, lemon oil is rich in limonene and citral, lending a sharp citrus snap that defines the Bomb Pop experience. In aromatherapy, lemon oil is known to promote alertness and a sense of well-being.

Contributions:

  • Enhances brightness and tartness of the blend.
  • Balances sweetness with a juicy, refreshing top note.
  • Commonly used for both flavor and mood elevation.

Alpha-Pinene

Fresh • Piney • Energizing

The most abundant terpene on Earth, alpha-pinene adds a clean, forest-like freshness to Bomb Pop. Found in hundreds of plant species—from basil and rosemary to frankincense and pine—it’s known for helping open airways and clear the mind.

Potential Benefits:

  • May enhance mental clarity and focus.
  • Acts as a bronchodilator (respiratory support).
  • Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Beta-Caryophyllene

Spicy • Peppery • Grounding

A standout terpene found in clove, black pepper, and cannabis, beta-caryophyllene adds depth and warmth to Bomb Pop’s sweet top notes. Remarkably, it also acts as a cannabinoid, binding directly to the CB2 receptor.

Potential Benefits:

  • Anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects
  • Supports stress reduction
  • May help modulate immune response

Myrcene

Earthy • Herbal • Relaxing

Myrcene provides a mellow, musky undertone that grounds Bomb Pop’s sweetness. Often found in hops, chamomile, and lemongrass, it’s the most common terpene in cannabis and is known for its sedative qualities.

Potential Benefits:

  • Promotes relaxation and calm.
  • May aid with sleep and muscle recovery.
  • Anti-inflammatory and analgesic potential.

Natural Flavors

Sweet • Juicy • Candy-Like

To fully recreate the nostalgic profile of the classic Bomb Pop, this blend includes naturally derived flavor compounds like esters, aldehydes, and ketones. These ingredients are commonly found in essential oils and fruit extracts, adding both aroma complexity and taste authenticity.

Contributions:

  • Delivers cherry and blue raspberry notes.
  • Enhances flavor realism and roundness.
  • Sourced from nature, designed for clean-label applications.

What are diluents?

Diluents, by scientific definition, are substances that dilute, or weaken, other substances that they're mixed with. They do this by essentially thinning out the other substance. Common examples of diluents include medium chain triglycerides (MCT oils), and propylene glycol (PG), which are also both substances that are commonly used in vape cartridges as a thinning agent.

Vape cartridges contain active extract material, terpenes, and a diluent. Our Solvent Free Terpenes contain zero thinning or diluting agents whatsoever, while our TasteBudds Flavors are based in either MCT or PG. Because of this, our terpenes are of the highest quality and are incredibly concentrated, and our diluent based flavors are highly concentrated as well, with a base concentration that's still 4-5 times stronger that most flavors today.
