Welcome to the Talking Terpenes: Cliff Notes Educational Series
This collection of articles summarizes the science of one of the most common types of molecules in nature, terpenes, into an easy read for the average consumer. New articles will be released periodically that explore their characteristics, including many health benefits, offered by terpenes and—more specifically—terpene blends.
If you've used terpenes before, you might know that there are different types you can buy. There's Botanical, Cannabis, and Synthetic. If you don't know about them yet, you can read more on our blog. We only sell natural botanical terpenes sourced from plants. This is good for you and your products because there are three big benefits, which we call the 3 C's. Let's talk about the first one.
Consistency
Cannabis terpenes come from the cannabis plant itself and taste like the plant they came from. But even if they come from the same type of plant, they can taste different from flower to flower because of factors, such as how they were grown. Botanical terpenes come from different plants and science allows us to make them taste like a specific strain of cannabis every time. We can even make new flavors no one has ever tasted before. The important thing is that you can count on getting the same taste and effect every time you use them.
Cost
It's also important to think about cost when choosing terpenes. Cannabis is already expensive to grow, so it's cheaper to get the same terpenes from other plants like lavender. Lavender can give us more terpenes too, which makes it even more cost-effective. Extracting terpenes from cannabis is also harder and more expensive. So, it makes sense to choose botanically-derived terpenes because they are cheaper and easier to get.
Commerce
If you make products that have cannabis, hemp, or CBD in them, you know that each state has different laws to regulate them. But using botanical terpenes is legal everywhere because they come from plants that don't have any THC or CBD in them. That means you don't have to worry about breaking any laws when you use them in the products you sell. Plus, they are safe, cheap, and you can make them taste however you want. Our experts at Extract Consultants can help you find the right terpenes for your products.
